Dirty Weekend Entry - Beautiful Native Trees in the Backyard
Oct 13, 2010

The only problem is the weeds - and we pretty much had/have every noxious one you can imagine (onion weed, wandering willy, deadly nightshade, Fennel, blackberry, Holly to name a few). Slowly we are reducing the weeds and trying to only plant natives in the cleared spaces. It is a really hard job, and with 2 very vivacious boys (under 5) one that often feels a struggle. Due to the current financial climate we are transplanting seedlings that we find in our garden, but if we had the funds we would love to add a wider variety to New Zealand natives to our garden. Eventually, we will win the battle with against our weeds and have our own private piece of New Zealand Greenery in our backyard.
