We went and got about a metre load from a local duck farm and this mixed with wood shavings were put on the vege garden to rest it over the winter - the result has been a weed free garden for spring and those veges that I did plant have grown really well. In the flower garden I mulch with bark and lawn clippings and then just walk around every so often pulling anything weedy. The lawn is a sad story though- we are on the Papamoa sand and every weed under the sun likes to grow in it- I try to use lawn spry to keep it in check but this is a real continuing battle.
